A Note from the TEFL Department

We hope this letter finds you well as 2007 draws to a close. We’ve heard such interesting tales from so many of you. Thanks for keeping in touch; we always love to hear what you’re up to.

We’ve had quite a busy year here in the TEFL department, with lots of changes. Laura Warrell came back to the US from Berlin in March 2007, and joined our team as the ESL and TEFL coordinator. Hannah Treworgy, our new Senior Trainer, joined us in June upon her return from Korea. Hannah graduated from our TEFL program in August, 2003, and is thrilled to be back at the Institute. We are also happy to have trainers Robert Davis (March, 2005) and Katja Davidoff join Susan Bippus on our TEFL team.

Unfortunately, welcoming new staff also meant saying goodbye to some wonderful former staffers. Stephen Walsh recently left us to begin a Ph.D. program at Harvard University. Peter Ruggiero has returned to teaching at the college level and is now the Director of Evening Division and Continuing Education at Bay State College. Kym Perkins earned her DELTA in August (Congratulations, Kym!) and is now a Senior Lecturer at CELOP at Boston University. Although Peter and Kym are very busy, they still find the time to stay involved in the Institute’s TEFL program. We wish them all the best in their new endeavors.

If you are ever in the neighborhood, please stop by. Our current trainees would benefit greatly from hearing about your experiences as a teacher. If you’re going to be in Boston, give Hannah a call or send an email to Hannah@bostonlanguage.com. We’d love for you to come share your stories with other TEFLers.

We wish you a happy and prosperous new year.

Best wishes,

Team TEFL
Laura, Hannah, Sue, Robert, and Katja
